A FORMER Hollyoaks actress has been teaching youngsters all about the life of a television star.
Victoria Atkin, who spent two years on the hit Channel 4 show, hosted two two-day acting masterclasses in the Memorial Hall, Church Crookham last week.
"All the participants were extremely talented and came to the class with bundles of enthusiasm," said Victoria, who grew up in Farnborough and was head girl at Fernhill Comprehensive School.
"I very much encouraged them to ask lots of questions and not to judge themselves for asking anything. Starting out in the acting profession can be a minefield and I just wanted to put everyone that came along at ease and give them a feel for what it is like on a television set as an actor/actress."
Victoria left Fernhill in 2003 before going to Farnborough Sixth Form College and then to the Central School of Speech and Drama in Swiss Cottage.
From there Victoria landed one of most controversial female acting roles of all time and a first for British television, playing transgender teen and series regular Jasmine/Jason Costello.
Victoria also made a recent guest appearance on Holby City as an ex-soldier suffering from Foreign Accent Syndrome.
Her masterclasses are designed for aspiring young actors and actresses aged between eight and 16.
Those taking part spent two days with Victoria learning the skills it requires to become a television and film actor.
"For those who missed out this time I will be back at Christmas at the same venue for a second Masterclass open to all abilities aged 8 to 16," said Victoria.
"I am looking forward to hearing their progress when we reconvene, although I have very much encouraged them to keep me up to date via our Facebook group.
"To give some of the knowledge back that I have learnt is hugely rewarding. I'm excited to meet another batch new young thespians at Christmas."
Email your name and age to email@example.com to reserve a place.

Victoria Atkin, who played Jason Costello in Hollyoaks, has signed up for a guest role in Holby City.
From 2010 until December 2011, the actress was involved in a groundbreaking gender identity storyline with her character, previously named Jasmine.
Her official website has confirmed that Atkin will make a one-episode stint as ex-army soldier Lainey Craig who suffers with foreign accent syndrome, a speech impediment usually the result of a brain injury.
Digital Spy exclusively revealed last September that Atkin would be bowing out of her role on Hollyoaks.
She said at the time: "Playing Jason has been a phenomenal first role out of drama school. I feel extremely blessed to have performed such a didactic and challenging role.
"I would like to thank everyone for an immensely rewarding year, Jason has been an incredible part, however I am now very excited to explore what other roles the industry has to offer."
She will make her appearance on hospital drama Holby City on Tuesday, June 26 - under a fortnight's time - at 8pm on BBC One.

Victoria Atkin: Hollyoaks star backs 2011 Leeds Abbey Dash
Wednesday 9 November 2011
Yorkshire Evening Post
Hollyoaks star Victoria Atkin is urging Leeds runners to don their trainers and dash for Age UK.
The 24-year-old actress is reminding runners that registration is still open for the Leeds Abbey Dash, which will see 8,000 people pound the pavements on Sunday, November 20.
Victoria, who plays Jason Costello in the popular TV soap, raised £580 for Age UK after completing the Virgin Active London Triathlon in July and it has become a charity that is close to her heart.
She said: "I’ve always wanted to help the elderly community.
"When I was a drama student I realised I had a real passion for bringing different, older and younger generations together through theatre.
"Helping make sure that older people can enjoy later life is something that’s really important to me.
"Earlier this year I took part in the Virgin London Triathlon and the knowledge that I was helping change the lives of older people was an incredible feeling.
"All of us are ageing and if we help now while we are mobile and active and invest time to help it is worth it.
"It is a charity that will be putting the money back in to things like the Fit as a Fiddle scheme that will help you and your family when they are older.
"I’d encourage anyone who’s up for a challenge to run the Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash – I can guarantee you’ll have the biggest smile on your face when you cross the finish line."
She added: "At the end of the day it is just an hour of your life but it really makes a difference to people’s lives."
Tom Galliano, events fundraiser at Age UK, said: "We’re incredibly lucky to have passionate supporters like Victoria backing the Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash.
"We’re urging runners of all abilities to sign up to the event and to raise as much as they can - every penny raised will help us make a difference to the lives of older people."
Age UK provides services for older people and their families.
