Variety, 13th September, 2016
BYUtv has greenlit sci-fi series "Extinct," hailing from "Ender’s Game" author Orson Scott Card and writer Aaron Johnston, Variety has learned exclusively.
"Extinct" marks BYUtv’s second scripted series, following "Granite Flats."
"Extinct" takes place 400 years after the extinction of the human race and follows a small group of humans who are revived by an alien civilization. Over the course of the season, the series carries the colony of revived humans through struggles with the aliens who extinguished humankind centuries before, while trying to understand and get along with the mysterious aliens who revived them.
Chad Michael Collins ("Sniper") has been cast as the lead character, Ezra. The cast is rounded out by Victoria Atkin ("Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate"), Jaclyn Hales ("Unicorn City"), Yorke Fryer ("How to Get Away with Murder"), Jack Depew ("Mad Men"), Matthew Bellows ("Grimm") and Jake Stormoen ("Mythica").
Co-produced by Taleswapper and Go Films, "Extinct" will be produced by Adam Abel ("Forever Strong") and directed by Ryan Little ("Outlaw Trail").
"We are pleased to debut a sci-fi thriller created exclusively for BYUtv by one of the most awarded and bestselling authors — Orson Scott Card," said BYUtv’s managing director Derek Marquis. "Following the incredible response to our first scripted drama, ‘Granite Flats,’ we are bringing a powerful apocalyptic story to life, written by two of the strongest writers in the world of speculative fiction, and directed and produced by top independent filmmakers."
BYUtv — which is owned by Brigham Young University — has ordered 10 episodes with the first season slated to premiere in 2017.
Victoria Atkin is to join Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate co-star Paul Amos as a special guest at March’s Liverpool Comic Con. Victoria voices Jacob Frye’s twin sister Evie in the hit videogame – a relentless Assassin who has perfected the silent, swift and stealthy strike.
While Jacob is a hot-headed brawler, Evie Frye uses her strategic skill and parkour abilities to navigate unseen across London and strike from the shadows …although she’s as handy with her fists as her brother when she needs to be. Evie’s interest in the lore and history of the Assassins has made finding the Piece of Eden her primary goal in taking down the Templars; a pursuit that pits her against the Order’s occult expert Lucy Thorne.
Apart from playing Evie, Victoria Atkin is best known for her award-winning portrayal of Hollyoaks‘ Jason Costello, the soap’s first character with gender dysphoria. Other television credits include US comedy The Girl’s Guide to Depravity and UK medical drama Holby City.
MCM Comic Con Liverpool takes place 12-13 March 2016.
The master assassin has been shortlisted in the 'Outstanding Achievement in Character' category. The awards, which take place in Las Vegas on 18th February 2016, also sees a nomination for 'Syndicate' in the 'Outstanding Achievement in Animation' category.

A FORMER Hollyoaks actress has been teaching youngsters all about the life of a television star.
Victoria Atkin, who spent two years on the hit Channel 4 show, hosted two two-day acting masterclasses in the Memorial Hall, Church Crookham last week.
"All the participants were extremely talented and came to the class with bundles of enthusiasm," said Victoria, who grew up in Farnborough and was head girl at Fernhill Comprehensive School.
"I very much encouraged them to ask lots of questions and not to judge themselves for asking anything. Starting out in the acting profession can be a minefield and I just wanted to put everyone that came along at ease and give them a feel for what it is like on a television set as an actor/actress."
Victoria left Fernhill in 2003 before going to Farnborough Sixth Form College and then to the Central School of Speech and Drama in Swiss Cottage.
From there Victoria landed one of most controversial female acting roles of all time and a first for British television, playing transgender teen and series regular Jasmine/Jason Costello.
Victoria also made a recent guest appearance on Holby City as an ex-soldier suffering from Foreign Accent Syndrome.
Her masterclasses are designed for aspiring young actors and actresses aged between eight and 16.
Those taking part spent two days with Victoria learning the skills it requires to become a television and film actor.
"For those who missed out this time I will be back at Christmas at the same venue for a second Masterclass open to all abilities aged 8 to 16," said Victoria.
"I am looking forward to hearing their progress when we reconvene, although I have very much encouraged them to keep me up to date via our Facebook group.
"To give some of the knowledge back that I have learnt is hugely rewarding. I'm excited to meet another batch new young thespians at Christmas."
Email your name and age to [email protected] to reserve a place.

Due to the amazing success* of Victoria's summer acting masterclasses for 8-16 year olds which are being held this summer, more masterclasses are to be announced for the Christmas break.
Details will also be posted here as soon as we know anything further.

Victoria Atkin: Hollyoaks star backs 2011 Leeds Abbey Dash
Wednesday 9 November 2011
Yorkshire Evening Post
Hollyoaks star Victoria Atkin is urging Leeds runners to don their trainers and dash for Age UK.
The 24-year-old actress is reminding runners that registration is still open for the Leeds Abbey Dash, which will see 8,000 people pound the pavements on Sunday, November 20.
Victoria, who plays Jason Costello in the popular TV soap, raised £580 for Age UK after completing the Virgin Active London Triathlon in July and it has become a charity that is close to her heart.
She said: "I’ve always wanted to help the elderly community.
"When I was a drama student I realised I had a real passion for bringing different, older and younger generations together through theatre.
"Helping make sure that older people can enjoy later life is something that’s really important to me.
"Earlier this year I took part in the Virgin London Triathlon and the knowledge that I was helping change the lives of older people was an incredible feeling.
"All of us are ageing and if we help now while we are mobile and active and invest time to help it is worth it.
"It is a charity that will be putting the money back in to things like the Fit as a Fiddle scheme that will help you and your family when they are older.
"I’d encourage anyone who’s up for a challenge to run the Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash – I can guarantee you’ll have the biggest smile on your face when you cross the finish line."
She added: "At the end of the day it is just an hour of your life but it really makes a difference to people’s lives."
Tom Galliano, events fundraiser at Age UK, said: "We’re incredibly lucky to have passionate supporters like Victoria backing the Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash.
"We’re urging runners of all abilities to sign up to the event and to raise as much as they can - every penny raised will help us make a difference to the lives of older people."
Age UK provides services for older people and their families.
